LOVE will be in the air later this month when a highly-celebrated theatre show arrives in the region.

Like a wedding reception crossed with a radio dedication show, Love Letters Straight From Your Heart is a show which combines music and text chosen and written by the audience to create an event which is uniquely personal to those in the room. The audience become part of a temporary community as the actors speak of their own and others’ loves and dedicate songs to them.

And according to the Guardian, 'You feel part of a huge community as lives, hopes, dreams and sadnesses are offered up in a way that is blisteringly honest and unvarnished, and also entirely safe because of the anonymity’.

There are only 20 places available at the Tower Mill in Hawick date, so early booking is recommended for this critically acclaimed show which has been a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, Southbank Centre in London and at the RSC in Stratford.

The day begins with an informal workshop where participants can talk about those they love. Over cups of tea and biscuits the two actors from the show will talk to participants about their memories, help them choose a song that reminds them of a loved one and to write a dedication.

The music requests and dedications will be used in the evening performance.

There’s a free glass of cava for toasts, party poppers and maybe even dancing. Love Letters is an opportunity for people to hear the song they’ve requested and the words they’ve written about a loved one spoken on their behalf, in a celebratory and moving event.

Love Letters Straight From Your Heart is on Thursday, October 30 at Tower Mill, Heart of Hawick. The workshop runs from 12.30pm to 2pm and the evening performance starts at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 for the combined event.
