A MOTORIST who was almost four times the legal alcohol limit driving into the McDonald's car park in Galashiels has been banned from the road for 12 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
William Hall, 23, of Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, pleaded guilty to driving with a breath alcohol count of 84 microgrammes – the legal limit being 22 – on April 26.
Procurator fiscal Alasdair Fay said the accused drove into the car park with two or three friends at around 11.30pm and staff recognised he was not fit to drive and the matter was reported to the police.
Hall's lawyer said his client did not realise his level of inebriation and it was a "serious error on his part".
In addition to the disqualification period, Hall was fined £350 with a £20 Victim Surcharge.
